After six incredibly successful seasons, the multiple Emmy-Award-winning series Schitt's Creek has come to an end. From the father and son creative team of Eugene Levy (American Pie) and Dan Levy (MTV Canada), the show won many awards, many of which were attributed to spectacular performances given by Dan himself.
The comedian is now turning his attention away from live-action to test his mettle in an entirely different creative arena - adult animation. Deadline has reported that the streaming service Hulu, which has been pushing for its own line-up of adult animated comedies that kicked off with Justin Roiland's Solar Opposites, has now ordered a presentation for a satirical series from Levy.
Titled Standing By, Levy is creating, directing, and voice acting the main character in the cartoon, which follows eternal and disgruntled guardian angels. Working alongside him is fellow Schitt's Creek scribe Ally Pankiw (Someone Out There), and much like with Solar Opposites, 20th Century Fox, will be producing.
Does this sound like something you might be interested in tuning in for? Let us know your thoughts in the usual spot, and if you love adult animation, then make sure to check out our exclusive video interview with Rick and Morty's Summer Smith voice actress Spencer Grammer below!
Spencer Grammer is in the house! The actress and voice performer behind Rick & Morty's Summer Smith stops by the show to talk about the character now that she's voiced her for a decade! We dig deep into Summer's character arc and how a mixture of her own personality and the writing helped lend to that growth.
Discussing which characters she'd like to see re-visit the show, we shared plenty of laughs about Bucket Head, Snowball, Summer's ex, and more. We joke about a potential crossover where she finds her ex-boyfriend in the Solar Opposites wall and what dimension Summer would choose to visit with Rick's portal gun - The Neverending Story.
Talk turns to her father, Frasier and X-Men star Kelsey Grammer, and we discuss why he doesn't watch Rick and Morty, and we even cook up a jestful scheme that would see the actor play Summer's father from a different dimension, as Frasier. Spencer shares tidbits about her decade of experience with the show and makes it clear that she has no plans to leave the character of Summer behind, as well as talking to us about a few of her other projects.
There is no set a date for Standing By to premiere on Hulu yet but check back for updates as more reveals come to light.
