Yesterday, Star Wars: The Clone Wars — The Final Season Episode 9 "Old Friends Not Forgotten" debuted — more on that here. It has certainly caused quite a stir and some are already touting it as simply the best episode of the entire animated series. What with there only being a couple of episodes left, they're pulling out all of the stops.
In an earlier article, we explained exactly when the latest episode takes place — check that out here. Unlike every other episode in the animated series, Episode 9 doesn't take place between Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith but rather congruently with the latter.
This was particularly noticeable as the opening of the episode shows both Aayla Secura and Plo Koon in the same locations as they as in Revenge of the Sith — the planets of Felucia and Cato Nemoidia respectively. Star Wars fans will likely have been taken aback by these brief appearances.
Potential spoilers for the remaining episodes in Star Wars: The Clone Wars — The Final Season but; these glimpses at the Jedi masters seem to take place just before their inevitable demise at the hands of their Clone squads. Emperor Palpatine infamously executes Order 66 and prompts all Clone Troopers to gun down their generals.
Given that Episode 9 already takes place congruently with Revenge of the Sith and there are still three more episodes to go, there's a chance that we're going to have to witness this tragic event unfold yet again but from a new perspective — that of Ahsoka. It certainly seems to be where the show is headed. We'll just have to wait and see.
