Disney's Mickey Saves Christmas has arrived on Disney+ and Hulu and is now available to stream for subscribers of either service. The animated stop-motion special made its debut over the weekend on Disney Channel and Disney Junior as part of the networks' cheerful and festive programming, but as of today it's available to watch on both streaming services.

The holiday special is a collaboration between Disney and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (Robot Chicken, Titan Maximum, SuperMansion). Stoopid Buddy Stoodios specializes in stop-motion animation and also produced the animated short Mickey Mouse and the Magical Snowy Holiday for Disney Junior back in 2020. The stop-motion animation of Mickey Saves Christmas should remind many viewers of the holiday television classics of the 1960s and 70s that were produced by Rankin/Bass Productions, the company behind classics like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and A Year Without A Santa Claus.

Mickey Saves Christmas follows Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of their pals as they attempt to celebrate the perfect Christmas at their snowy cabin. But when Pluto causes Santa to lose all of the presents on his sleigh, the group must travel to the North Pole on a quest to save Christmas and find the true meaning of the holiday.

When Pluto's attempts to play fetch accidentally cause Santa to crash his sleigh and lose all the presents, Mickey and friends must travel to the North Pole to save Christmas.

Mickey Saves Christmas is directed by David H. Brooks (Ultra City Smiths) and features original music from the songwriting team Laura Schein and Ben Zeadman (Honor Society). Speaking to Animation Magazine, Brooks specifically named Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas as one of the sources of inspiration for the special, alongside previous 2D Mickey Mouse Christmas films.

The voice cast includes Bret Iwan as Mickey Mouse, Kaitlyn Robrock as Minnie Mouse, Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck, Tress MacNeille as Daisy Duck, and Bill Farmer as Goofy and Pluto. Real-life couple Brock Powell and Camryn Grimes voice Santa and Mrs. Claus, respectively.

Mickey Saves Christmas was part of Disney Channel's Fa-lala-lidays and Disney Junior's Magical Holidays programming. From now through January 2, viewers can tune in for special holiday-themed episodes of Marvel's Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Puppy Dog Pals, Alice's Wonderland Bakery, and Eureka!

If you're looking to experience some of the beloved holiday classics, here's where you can catch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and all the different adaptations of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! in 2022.
