Shortly after Ariana Grande performed "I Won't Say I'm In Love" as a part of the television event Disney Family Singalong, and a petition to get the popular singer to play Megara in a live-action remake of Hercules reached 15,000 signatures; work on a live-action remake of Hercules began at Disney.
The Russo Brothers, best known for the highest-grossing movie of all time Avengers: Endgame, are involved with the remake as producers — more on that here. However, whether they will also direct is currently unknown. But back to Ariana Grande as Megara. Even Susan Egan, the voice actor who originally played Megara, made it clear that she's in support of Grande.
Though, she isn't the only Disney star in favour of casting the popular singer as Meg. Recently, Josh Gad (Frozen 2) told Variety that he thinks Grande would be the ideal choice for the role. “She would amazing as Meg, she would be perfect, I would love to see that happen,” he said.
That's not all, though. Gad's own name has been thrown around for the role of Phil. However, he doesn't think he's fit for the job. Rather, Gad believes that Danny DeVito should reprise the role — having originally served as the voice of the character in the 1997 animated movie.
“I am good, I feel like I definitely have had and continue to have an incredible run of projects with the Disney company, but I don’t think anyone wants to see me take on yet another role in a live-action remake of an animated movie,” Gad said, having featured in the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast as LeFou.
Gad continued; “I personally think they should just cast Danny DeVito again, that seems to me the best option.” What do you think of Gad's choices? Are you in favour or do you perhaps have somebody else in mind for either role?
