Earlier today, we reported that Ariana Grande's fans and followers have been out in force petitioning for the intensely popular singer-songwriter to play the role of Megara in a live-action remake of 1997 animated classic Hercules. Since then, Ariana appeared on Disney's Family Singalong wherein she performed "I Won't Say I'm In Love" from the animated film.
ABC's hour-long special "The Disney Family Singalong" aired at 8pm EST on Thursday. Many stars appeared and performed a variety of classic Disney songs such as "We're All In This Together" from High School Musical and more. Well, as you can see, below Ariana Grande in particular put on a show as she sang alongside five pre-recorded versions of herself.
Already, a petition requesting that Ariana play Megara in a live-action remake of Hercules has amassed more than 11,000 signatures — despite the fact that Disney hasn't even announced that a remake is in the works — and "Hercules" is trending on Twitter with 20,000 mentions.
Not only are Ariana's fans more than enthusiastic about the song cover and her potential casting but the voice actress who played Megara in the original animated film has endorsed it. "Couldn’t be more perfect! Ariana Grande is the greatest thing since the pocket in pita!" says Susan Egan.
What's more, heartwarmingly, Ariana's own mother has responded to the cover and showed support for her daughter. Perhaps all this fervour will encourage Disney to add Hercules to its infinite list of upcoming live-action remakes. You can check out both Egan and Joan Grande's tweets below:
