We may not talk about Bruno, but it seems a lot of people sure do love singing about him. Encanto's hit song "We Don't Talk About Bruno" has become a smash hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. It supplanted Adele's "Easy On Me" which had spent 10 weeks atop the charts.
"We Don't Talk About Bruno" is just the second song from a Disney animated film to reach the No. 1 spot. The only other song from a Disney animated feature to accomplish such a feat was "A Whole New World" from the 1992 animated movie Aladdin.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming, radio airplay and sales data. According to Billboard Charts, "Bruno" drew 34.9 million U.S. streams, 1.5 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 12,300 downloads during the week spanning January 21-27.
The ensemble song features the vocal talents of Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the Encanto cast. It is the first top song for each of the six main singers. It's also the first Hot 100 song for writer Lin Manuel Miranda, which is shocking considering he also wrote the songs in Hamilton.
Although Bruno is by far the most popular, seven other songs from the soundtrack charted on the Top 100, including "Surface Pressure," which came in at No. 9. The film's soundtrack also spent its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, which tracks the commercial success of albums.
