Frozen 2 debuted in theatres back in November of last year — and is now streaming on Disney+ in the US. Many involved declared that the sequel would most likely be the last instalment in the Frozen series including Josh Gad who feared that he had played Olaf the Snowman for the last time.
Alas, that's not the case. Walt Disney Animation Studios has announced a new series of animated shorts that is in the works for Disney's streaming service. Hyrum Osmond (Tangled) is responsible for creating the series. Gad reprises the role of Olaf.
It's called At Home With Olaf and was entirely created from the homes of Osmond and Gad during the COVID-19 quarantine. It's certainly impressive what they've been able to put together under such circumstances. How regularly these shorts will debut is unclear but it's said there will be twenty in total.
Whether the series will feature the return of other characters such as Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff — and by extension their respective voice actors — is also unknown. Fans will just have to keep their fingers crossed.
Walt Disney Animation Studios shared a teaser for the series on social media which you can check out below (via @DisneyAnimation):
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.
