Just a couple of days ago, the long-awaited sequel to 2013's
Frozen arrived in theatres —
and got off the a cracking start at the box office. Frozen 2 sees Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad reprise the roles of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf respectively.
Recently, the latter actor took to social media with a realisation that he might have played the lovable snowman for the last time. The producer and directors of
Frozen 2 recently commented on the likelihood of a sequel and it doesn't seem like
Frozen 3 is currently on the cards —
more on that here.
In
a tweet, Gad explained that he
"Woke up this morning & had a realization: I may have played Olaf 4 the last time. Who knows what the future holds, but should that be the case, thank u all 4 embracing this little bundle of optimism, naïveté, & now existentialism. I hope he has brought u as much joy as he has me."
Of course, anything is possible and
Frozen 3 might eventually be put into the works — given the franchise's immense popularity. However, Walt Disney Animation Studios don't seem to be too fond of sequels.
Frozen 2 actually the first Disney princess sequel to get a theatrical release. Regardless, you can check out Gad's tweet for yourself below:
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.
Frozen 2 is in theatres now!
