Frozen 2 from Walt Disney Animation Studios debuted in theatres back in November of last year. It's a sequel to 2013's Frozen and saw similar success in terms of both critical acclaim as well as box office revenue. Overall, Frozen 2 earned $1.4 billion at the box office and is the second highest-grossing animated film of all time — behind 2019's The Lion King.

It was the third highest-grossing film of last year and stands as the tenth highest-grossing film of all time. While Frozen 2 didn't earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Animation Feature, it did earn an Oscar nom for Best Original Song — that being for "Into the Unknown" which was performed by Elsa voice actress Idina Menzel.

Earlier this week, Disney announced that they would be bringing the animated sequel to their streaming service three months prior to when it was expected to arrive. While it was originally set to join Disney+ on Jun 26th; Frozen 2 is available to stream on the platform as of today (March 15th).

It seems that this decision was made partly due to the Coronavirus outbreak that has been plaguing and worrying most of the world for the last couple of month. This both incentivises people to stay indoors and watch a fairly recent animated movie and provides those who are amidst self-imposed isolation a treat to pass the time.

However, Frozen 2 is only available to stream on Disney+ in the United States (at the time of writing). The animated sequel will come to the streaming service in Canada, Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand on Tuesday (via @DisneyFrozen). It will presumably come along with the streaming service when it launches in Europe on March 24th.

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.
