While the X-Men has been around since the 60s, it wasn't until 1992 that the merry mutants truly hit the mainstream with the release of X-Men: The Animated Series. Taking reference from Jim Lee's designs from X-Men #1, the new show ushered in an era of animation that showed that a children's cartoon is capable of having stakes, big ideas, and mature themes like prejudice.
Since the release of the cartoon, characters like Wolverine and Cyclops have become household names and were further brought into the spotlight with the release of the films since 2000. With the show streaming on Disney+, a whole new generation of fans are being introduced to the fantastic series.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has continued throughout the world, certain companies have brought their conventions to the virtual world. For the Wizard World Virtual Experience, they were able to gather the cast and crew of the X-Men animated series for a one of a kind panel. The panel features Cal Dodd (Wolverine), George Buza (Beast), Chris Britton (Mr.Sinister), and Larry Houston (Producer and Storyboard Artist).
During the panel, everything from early memories to potential reunions was discussed along with much more! Make sure to give the panel a watch, and don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
The first season of the show brought the X-Men into conflict with human conspirators building mutant-exterminating Sentinel robots, Magneto and his attempts to instigate a human-mutant war, and the powerful mutant Apocalypse's plans to eradicate the weak, both human and mutant alike.
X-Men: The Animated Series is available now on Disney+!
