South Park: The Stick of Truth, Ubisoft's role-playing game inspired by Comedy Central's hit animated show, is coming to the Nintendo Switch next week. Originally released in 2014, the acclaimed RPG was developed by Obsidian Entertainment in collaboration with South Park Digital Studios and published by Ubisoft.
South Park: The Stick of Truth, which was written and directed by series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, transports players to the fictional town of South Park, Colorado. Players assume the role of the "new kid" who arrives in town and quickly becomes involved in the epic role-playing fantasy. In typical
South Park fashion, the battle for the all-powerful Stick of Truth quickly escalates out of control and takes players from the fourth-grade playground to iconic locations from the show where they battle aliens, Nazi zombies, and more. In addition to staying true to the show's aesthetic, the game also replicates its signature adult humor throughout.
The official game synopsis reads:
For a thousand years, the battle has been waged. The sole reason humans and elves are locked in a never-ending war: The Stick of Truth. But the tides of war are soon to change as word of a new kid spreads throughout the land, his coming foretold by the stars. As the moving vans of prophecy drive away, your adventure begins.
Arm yourself with weapons of legend to defeat underpants gnomes, hippies, and other forces of evil. Discover the lost Stick of Truth and succeed in earning your place alongside Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny as their new friend. Fail, and you will forever be known…as a loser.
South Park: The Stick of Truth will be available through for Switch through digital stores only on September 25, 2018, for $29.99. The game's sequel,
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is already available on Switch.
