Yesterday saw
the announcement of an animated series spinoff from 2015's
Jurassic World and now we've gotten our first look at the show in action.
From DreamWorks Animation,
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will follow a group of teenagers who were left stranded on Isla Nublar following the dinosaur outbreak which we originally witnessed in the afformentioned blockbuster.
It's said that the tone of the animated series will be more light-hearted than that of the movies. It'll show the campers working together and becoming a close-knit family in order to survive.
The show will be making its way onto Netflix at some point next year. A new teaser trailer has been released (via
DreamWorksTV) which reaffirms its release window and shows off what the show's animation will likely look like.
Check out the brief teaser trailer below:
Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Colin Trevorrow are attached as producers of the series. The former was the director behind the original
Jurassic Park, while the latter is responsible for the 2015 soft reboot. Scott Kreamer and Lane Lueras will serve as the animated series' showrunners and executive producers.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. But when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is set to release on Netflix in 2020.
