STAR WARS REBELS: Freddie Prinze Jr. On The Possibility Of Seeing Kanan in Live-Action

Several major Star Wars Rebels characters are set to make their live-action debuts in the upcoming Disney+ Ahsoka series, but Kanan Jarrus will not be among them.

Of course, there's a good reason for that!

Kanan was killed-off in the final season, and even though his spirit lived on as a Force Ghost, it wouldn't make much sense for the fan-favorite Jedi to appear in live-action.

Jarrus may return in some form down the line, but Freddie Prinze Jr., who voiced the character in Rebels, has very little interest in reprising the role.

"Kanan's story – at least for me – is done," the actor tells ComicBook.com. "I thought it ended beautifully. People cried, I was very happy for that. I don't mean that like a jerk: our goal was to make you cry. I didn't even want to do the little voice-over in the last Star Wars movie [The Rise of Skywalker]. I thought it felt forced."

Prinze Jr. is referring to his brief voice cameo as Kanan towards the end of The Rise of Skywalker when Rey was encouraged to fight back against The Emperor by the Jedi that came before.

"To me, every time I'm asked to do Kanan it waters down what was a beautiful ending. It's this amazing, powerful moment," Freddie added. "So for me, that story's been told, and it's done, and I wouldn't have any interest in that. And it would be weird to play a different character in that universe, so I don't have any ambition to be in the Star Wars Universe."
