Despite being financially successful, Star Wars: The Last Jedi proved to be a divisive movie among fans, but whether you like Episode VIII or not, Rian Johnson has made it clear that he is also a fan of the franchise.
Now, in response to a fan's question, Rian Johnson revealed over Twitter that he would rewatch the Mortis story arc in Star Wars: The Clone Wars while developing the script for The Last Jedi.
Johnson didn't reveal whether these episodes directly influenced the story of The Last Jedi, but considering he described the Mortis story as "boundary pushing," these episodes may have motivated him to take more risks with Episode VIII. Though, as we all know, not all of these risks would be positively received.
