POKÉMON's Alolan Vulpix Teams Up With Anime Vocalist Hatsune Miku For Sapporo Collaboration

While Alolan Vulpix might be a character that is fairly recognizable to fans thanks to the massive success of the Pokémon franchise and the character's inclusion in the massively popular Pokémon Go, Hatsune Miku is likely a bit more of an obscure character with less of a following. But that's what collaborations are for!

If you aren't familiar with Alolan Vulpix, it is one of the many pocket monsters in the world of Pokémon. While the creature was initially a Kanto (Generation I) introduction, it received it's Ice Type Alolan version along with the rest in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon for the Nintendo 3DS. Vulpix later received the Alola form in Pokémon Go and in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee, making it a popular creature with multiple appearances under it's belt. The ice typing of the creature is also highly coveted.

The strange vocalist that will be collaborating with the creature, Hatsune Miku, isn't actually a person. Instead she is an anime-like girl that sings using a vocaloid software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media. The 16 year-old anthropomorph has long turquoise twitails in her hair and she sports an obvious anime style which will make her a welcome companion for Alolan Vulpix and she surely won't look out of place.

Trainers will be able to see snow sculptures on site to be seen at the 71st Sapparo Snow Festival - depicting both Snow Miku and Alolan Vulpix in matching scarves. Pokémon Center locations will feature exclusive merchandise during this time as well. An image will be sold at the event which has been drawn by Naoko Saito who has been drawing art for the Pokémon Trading Card Game cards ever since 2009. The image will feature Snow Miku dressed as a band leader with her trusty Alolan Vulpix at her side - a must have for fans of pocket monsters and Miku.

What do you think about this collaboration? Do you think we should see more innovative and interesting pairings like this or is it just a waste of time in your eyes? Sound off below!

The 71st Sapparo Snow Festival will take place from February 4-11, 2020.
