We're on the verge of Fortnite Chapter 2 — Season 3. The third season was originally intended to drop on June 4th (that's tomorrow), however, Epic Games recently announced that the launch of the third season will now occur on June 11th.
It has been rumoured for a while that the third season will see the battle royale's map be totally covered over with water, an enormous flood. What's more, it's said that there will be an underwater theme for the season. Well, a recently leaked image seems to have confirmed such rumours.
This promotional image surfaced online courtesy of the PlayStation Store (via Gamefragger) and sees the battle bus floating atop an expansive ocean. You can just about spot a small desert island in the background. Fans of SpongeBob SquarePants were quick to point out that the island looks quite familiar to the one that features at the very beginning of every single episode of the cartoon series.
Thus, many believe that the upcoming third season will feature a crossover with SpongeBob SquarePants. Both SpongeBob SquarePants and Fortnite have enormous followings, after all. And Fortnite isn't opposed to tie-ins. For instance, Fortnite has crossed over with Batman, Deadpool, The Avengers, and many more other properties in the past.
