Kevin Smith is a household name amongst nerds, in charge of projects like the upcoming He-Man and the Masters of the Universe on Netflix and the short-lived Howard the Duck for Disney and Marvel on Hulu. The filmmaker has always turned in big hits, however, with live action classic comedies such as Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, and Clerks under his belt.
In regards to the latter, Clerks not only received multiple live action films but it also saw an animated series spin out of the successful franchise. Clerks: The Animated Series ran from 2000 to 2002 and featured Dante, Randal, Jay, and Silent Bob in their natural habitat exploring crazier storylines than ever.
In a recent interview with ConsequenceOfSound, Kevin Smith opened up about how he thinks now is a better time to revive and reboot the series than ever. Here is what the filmmaker had to say.
“All we have to do is turn the lights back on. It’s not like, now we’ve got to create all new designs. We have the basic designs. We have all that artwork and stuff. Greenlight it and10 episodes of the show could come out next year.
You guys aren’t doing anything with [the episodes]. We have all these designs and a bunch of people we’d like to be involved. The voice cast could come back, a bunch of the writers could come back and stuff. But all the heavy lifting has been done.”

Based on Kevin Smith's cult-favorite 1994 film of the same name, the Clerks series follows the misadventures of New Jersey slackers Dante Hicks and Randal Graves.
