X-Men: The Animated Series premiered in 1992 and ran for 76 episodes. The show was a hit with comic book fans and delivered a near-perfect take on the mutant team that still resonates today.
It's no wonder then that Marvel Studios is revisiting this animated reality in the upcoming Disney+ revival X-Men '97, with most of the original cast returning to pick up where the series left off.
We'd expected to see the revival on the streaming platform later this year, but the Fall instead looks set to be dominated by I Am Groot, Loki, and Echo. Merchandise continues to find its way into stores in the meantime, however, and we now have a new look at the returning mutant-hunting Sentinels!
You can also see Rogue put from and centre on some toy packing along with a new toy depicting Wolverine's iconic Adamantium claws.
Marvel Studios plans to skip Comic-Con this weekend so, for the time being, we're not expecting a new look at X-Men '97 beyond what's revealed in toys like these.
We originally expected the show to premiere on Disney+ this year but work on Marvel Studios' animated offerings has ground to a halt, with the fate of this show, What If...?, Marvel Zombies, and Spider-Man: Freshman Year now a mystery to us.
Work is thought to be progressing on them, so they haven't been cancelled...as far as we know, anyway. However, with Disney cutting costs and Marvel Studios getting back to quality over quantity, these shows may no longer be a major priority (the ongoing WGA strike halting live-action productions could change things, of course).
See the returning Sentinels, and Rogue, in the images below.
