With Comic-Con in full swing in San Diego, Hulu has shared the first full-length trailer for Solar Opposites season 4 (via SFFGazette.com). As you might expect, it wastes no time in addressing the elephant in the room.
Justin Roiland will not reprise his role as Korvo following those well-publicised controversies. Instead, Beauty and the Beast and The Guest star Dan Stevens is stepping in to take over the role...and he's clearly not attempting to imitate Roiland's take on the character.
We're not sure what, if anything, this means for Rick and Morty but we have to believe neither character will sound the way we remember when the show returns.
Regardless, there's plenty of suitably bonkers action to be found throughout the rest of this trailer and a previously released plot synopsis for season 4 of Solar Opposites promised, "we pack up the sci-fi and get normal...for a second. Then it’s back to classic Solar chaos, mayhem in the Wall, and some all new Silvercops adventures!"
In the show, a team of four aliens escape their exploding home world only to crash land into a move-in ready home in suburban America. They are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome.
Korvo (Justin Roiland Dan Stevens) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love humans and all their TV, junk food and fun stuff.
Their mission: protect the Pupa, a living super computer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them and terraform the Earth.
Solar Opposites returns to Hulu on August 15 with eleven new episodes. A Valentine's Day special will then follow next year.
