Rick and Morty returns to Adult Swim this Sunday with its season 7 premiere and the network has just released the episode's cold open. In that, we see the long-awaited return of Mr. Poopybutthole for what looks set to finally be more than just a cameo role for the fan-favourite character.
Unsurprisingly, he's not doing well. In recent years, Beth has shot him, he lost both his family and job, and then broke both his legs while training for a comeback.
Now, though, he's been given a home in Beth and Jerry's house, and all that negativity has come right along for the ride.
Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland (who was fired for alleged sexual misconduct) previously voiced Mr. Poopybutthole, meaning this clip reveals what he'll sound like moving forward. There is a distinguishable difference but this soundalike does a great job and, based on the first reviews for the premiere, the same can be said for the new Rick and Morty as well.

Adult Swim previously shared episode titles and brief descriptions for season 7, and while they don't reveal much, it sounds like we're in for a fun 10 episodes.

"Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever!" reads the synopsis for the show's return. "It's season seven, and the possibilities are endless: What's up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let's find out!"
"There's probably less piss than last season," it continues. "'Rick and Morty,' 100 years! Or at least until season 10!"
