Earlier today, Adult Swim released a new trailer for Rick and Morty season 7 which finally reveals how the title characters will sound without original star and co-creator Justin Roiland.

He was ousted from the animated series when a string of damaging allegations from women followed the prolific voice actor being charged with domestic violence (the charges were ultimately dropped but the floodgates opened and his reputation was obliterated). Later, we'd learn the plan was to replace him with "soundalikes."

Now we've heard them, it's clear Adult Swim wasn't kidding. Whoever is now playing the show's leads sounds almost identical to Roiland, though longtime fans will be able to tell the difference; after ten episodes, however, we're sure the new lead/s will have cemented their place as Rick and Morty.

So, why do we still not know who is playing them?

The Hollywood Reporter spoke to an Adult Swim insider who says, "We want the show to speak for itself. We believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans."

This is also a smart way to get people to tune in as they'll be keen to see whose name comes up when the credits roll! We're honestly a little surprised the voices were revealed in advance, but hearing them today has definitely got fans talking.

Adult Swim previously shared episode titles and synopses for season 7, but they're frustratingly vague (and undeniably hilarious). You can check those out below.

"How Poopy Got His Poop Back" – Broh, Come Out With Us, You're Being So Boring Dude
"The Jerrick Trap" – Gotta be mindful Broh, big brain stuff here.
"Air Force Wong" – Virigina is For Lovers Broh
"That's Amorte" – Broh, That's-A Some Good Spaghetti
"Unmortricken" – Rick And Morty Wilding Out, Broh. They getting up to stuff.
"Rickfending Your Mort" – Gotta keep those receipts, Dawg.
"Wet Kuat Amortican Summer" – High School, Broh. Morty and Summer hang out in this one.
"Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie" – Action! Adventure! It's a whole movie, Broh!
"Mort: Ragnarick" – Heaven is for real, Broh. I saw it, Broh, I swear.
"Fear no Mort" -Only thing to fear is fear itself, Broh.

"Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever!" reads the official synopsis. "It's season seven, and the possibilities are endless: What's up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let's find out!"

"There's probably less piss than last season," it comically continues. "'Rick and Morty,' 100 years! Or at least until season 10!"

Rick and Morty season 7 premieres on Adult Swim on October 15.
