Although it seemed like the day would never come, season 14 is the final season of Archer. Created by Adam Reed, Archer has taken fans on an unabashed and often hilarious adventure following the self-proclaimed "world's greatest spy," Sterling Archer, voiced by H. Jon Benjamin).
Created in 2009, the show aired on FX thru 2016, before shifting to its sister channel FXX in 2017. Season 14 will consist of 8 episodes, bringing the series to a total of 142 episodes.
The show will return to FXX on August 30, dropping two episodes at 10 PM est. Hulu will make the episodes available for streaming the next day.
In the season 14 premiere, "the Agency teams up with Interpol to take down a highly organized ring of jewel thieves; Archer's skeptical, as their Interpol contact seems to be treating the mission as more of an audition."
Archer and his crew of spies will attempt to adapt to their new lifestyle after the events of Season 13. Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler) is now running the agency and is keen on making it the success that Malory Archer (previously voiced by the late Jessica Walter) never could. Meanwhile, Sterling is still suffering from alcoholism and is unsure of where he fits in.
Fans of Archer will undoubtedly find Season 14 to be a bittersweet experience. It's the end of an era, but it's also one final chance to see the characters everyone's come to know and love over the last fourteen years.
