Actor Lance Reddick unexpectedly passed away back in March of this year, particularly leaving the Destiny 2 community shocked and grief-stricken.
However, Reddick was known for much more than just voicing Vanguard Commander Zavala in Bungie's sci-fi, multiplayer first-person shooter. His career dates back to The Wire (2002) and spans all the way to the more recent John Wick franchise (2014).
In the Invincible - Presenting Atom Eve Special episode, Reddick portrays Erickson, the leader of the Pentagon's Department of Superhuman Research. In the special, it's revealed that Atom Eve was created by the U.S. government to be the ultimate superhero weapon.
Though it was initially believed that Atom Eve's mother died during childbirth, she actually survived and went on to have several more super-powered children under the direction of Reddick's Erickson.
None of Eve's siblings were as powerful as her, and most were misshapen abominations. Due to their upbringing under U.S. military care, they grew up hating Eve.
The final moments of the episode reveal a mental block that Eve has on her powers that was put in place at the direction of Erickson. Due to an unexpected tragedy, Eve lifts those blocks and uses her new powers to alter Erickson's mind so that he forgets that she exists.
Lance's wife, Stephanie, reportedly found Reddick collapsed in the backyard of his Studio City home on March 17. A coroner's report listed his cause of death as due to Ischemic Heart Disease as well as Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease.
