The highly anticipated second season of I Am Groot is fast approaching, and the five-episode series just broke a Marvel Studios runtime record.
Believe it or not, I Am Groot will be briefer than season 1, news confirmed by writer Ryan Little. As you can see below, the entirety of the show will clock in at just 15 minutes in total, making it the shortest MCU content ever released. Outside of Disney+ TV shows, Avengers: Endgame remains the longest at over 3 hours.
We're not exactly fretting about this news, of course, as the show's first five similarly brief episodes packed in plenty of stories and hilarious moments featuring the beloved sentient tree.
Very little has been revealed about I Am Groot season 2 beyond what we've seen in the trailer; however, by far the biggest moment in that came when we saw Jeffrey Wright's Uatu the Watcher, a What If...? character who technically makes his "live-action" debut here (the show is CG but features photo-realistic imagery).
The troublemaking twig returns to mischief in the second season of I Am Groot. This time, Baby Groot finds himself exploring the universe and beyond aboard the Guardians' spaceships, coming face-to-face - or nose-to-nose - with new and colourful creatures and environments.
Vin Diesel is back as the voice of Groot in five all-new shorts. Kirsten Lepore, writer/director of season one, returns in the same capacity for season two.
The supervising producer is Danielle Costa; producers are Craig Rittenbaum and Alex Scharf; executive producers are Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Kirsten Lepore. Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt is the co-executive producer.
I Am Groot season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on September 6.
