James Gunn is back on social media, interacting with fans to generate hype for the upcoming DCU cinematic reboot. If you follow Gunn's updates closely, he seems to rotate between which franchise he provides updates and teases for- something that's likely a calculated PR move on Gunn's part.

Today, it was Creature Commandos' turn in the spotlight and Gunn revealed the character from the show's cast of freaks and monsters that he's most excited for audiences to meet.

"The Bride is something special, she's the lead character in a lot of ways, but I love them all," said Gunn in response to a fan question.

Gunn also confirmed that fans should expect Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. to be one of the characters to make the jump from animation to live-action. Previously, Gunn confirmed that "some" but not "all" of the Creature Commandos cast would show up in other live-action DCU shows and films.

Previously,  David Harbour implied that his Frankenstein's monster character will also be making the jump from animation to live-action.

Back in November, the Stranger Things star commented, "What we recorded is really great. I’ve seen the art, James is a genius. I think it’s going to be really fun and really exciting, and it opens up a whole new door to the DC Universe of how these characters will occupy the world. I like the concept of a live action and cartoon back and forth."

Gunn also shared that he isn't directing any episodes of Creature Commandos but he did direct the voice recording sessions.

Lastly, when asked how introducing these lesser-known characters compares to how Gunn first introduced the Guardians of the Galaxy, Gunn replied, "Well yes [their introduction will be similar] except a lot more because they get seven episodes of a TV series not one, two hour movie.Every character gets their day in the sun."

Creature Commandos has fought off delay rumors for months, with Gunn recently confirming a late-2024 release window for the Max series [via Threads].  If we had to make a logical guess, it would make sense for Creature Commandos to drop around Halloween.

The 7-episode animated series will stream on Max and stars Harbour as Eric Frankenstein/Frankenstein's Monster, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Dr. Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Sean Gunn as Weasel and G.I. Robot, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.

Steve Agee will also reprise his Peacemaker role of John Economos.  Viola Davis is also slated to appear as Amanda Waller.

Additionally, Anya Chalotra who plays Yennefer of Veneberg in The Witcher, is rumored to be portraying Wonder Woman villain, Circe in the project. Keep this casting labeled as a rumor for now as it hasn't been confirmed by Gunn.
