Disney's Pixar has been delivering emotional animated features to the big screen for years. From the early days of Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Monsters Inc. to modern titles like Soul, Luca, and The Good Dinosaur.
Character-driven and touching stories are what has continued to see Pixar succeed again and again. With compelling story arcs for characters like Woody, Remy, and Wall-E, audiences are happy to tune in repeatedly, no matter how emotional the experience may be.
The newest film on the way from Pixar is the directorial debut of Academy Award-winner Domee Shi, helmer of the Pixar short Bao and produced by Lindsey Collins. While we received a short look at the film in a brief teaser, Pixar has now taken to social media - via Instagram - to share a fresh look at the character(s) in the new movie.
The film follows an emotional young girl named Mei Lee who turns into a huge red panda bear whenever things get out of her control - essentially always for a teenager.
Take a look at the teaser and synopsis for the movie below, and be sure to share your thoughts on this concept art in the usual spot!
In Turning Red, Mei Lee is a confident, dorky thirteen-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. And as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which for a teenager is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda!
Turning Red is coming to theaters on March 11th, 2022.
