Onward may have only just hit theatres but Pixar are already looking forward — or rather inward.
Soul is the next animated movie from Disney Pixar and two-time Academy Award-winning director Pete Docter (
Inside Out,
Up). Academy Award-nominee Dana Murray produces. Kemp Powers co-directs.
The voice cast includes Jamie Foxx (
Just Mercy), Tina Fey (
Mean Girls), Questlove (
The Roots), Phylicia Rashad (
The Cosby Show), and Daveed Diggs (
The Little Mermaid).
Soul is set to arrive in theatres on June 19th, 2020. We got our first look at
Soul back in November 2019 with the animated movie's teaser trailer —
check that out here.
Now Disney Pixar has released the movie's main official trailer — along with a synopsis and official poster. It certainly looks like it could be something really special and existential just based on the new trailer alone. You can check it all out for yourself below (via

Joe Gardner, a middle school music teacher, has long dreamed of performing jazz music onstage, and finally gets a chance after impressing other jazz musicians during an opening act at the Half Note Club. However, an accident causes Gardner’s soul to be separated from his body and transported to the “You Seminar”, a center in which souls develop and gain passions before being transported to a newborn child, and Gardner must work with souls in training, such as 22, a soul with a dim view on life after being trapped for years at the You Seminar, in order to return to Earth before it’s too late.
