Coco animator Madeline Sharafian has a new Pixar short titled Burrow that will play in front of Soul. The film follows a young bunny out to build the home of her dreams but becomes increasingly embarrassed as she repeatedly digs into the home of her neighbors.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Disney would move Black Widow to 2021 and Soul to Disney+ as international box office returns from Mulan were less than spectacular. Only the first part of the rumor has come to pass as Black Widow was indeed delayed but Soul held onto its November 20 release date. Of course the film was already delayed once due to COVID-19 as it was originally slated to be released on June 19, 2020.
Many health experts are predicting a COVID-19 flare up this fall, which could lead to another delay for Soul. However, the fact that Disney Pixar has released details about Burrow is an indicator that they're committing to the November 20 release date (for now).
Burrow is the latest Pixar SparkShorts project from the animation company, which lets company employees spend 6 months developing their own ideas. Past short films from the program include Purl- debuted on YouTube, Kitbull- streaming on Disney+, Out- streaming on Disney+ and more. Burrow, which is the 8th SparkShorts film will be the first from the program to debut in theaters.
