Pixar is known for bringing a balance of humor and emotion to its beautiful and unique animated films. Toy Story, The Incredibles, Wall-E, Cars, Monsters Inc., Inside Out, Brave, Soul, Luca, Ratatouille, Onward, The Good Dinosaur, Luca, Coco, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life, and Up remain in fans hearts even decades after their releases.
A number of the films have already received sequels and spin-off shows, especially now that Disney+ offers streaming options for their shorts which used to be limited to airing before their films. Pixar is taking advantage of this for their newest offering, Dug Days, which is a series of shorts that spin out from the events of Up.
The titular Dug is the dog from Up that uses a collar to speak his mind - usually about squirrels. The show will feature the "humorous misadventures" of the canine and other beloved characters from the movie like Carl and Russell.
Dug Days is releasing on International Dog Day, which is next Wednesday, and will see five shorts available to stream on Disney+, and with it being less than a week away, there is a new trailer showing viewers what to expect.
Bob Peterson returns to reprise the voice of Dug while also lending his creative talents to the show as he has both written and directed the new shorts and said the following in regards to the new project. “Dug is pure of heart—he’s a good soul. I think people enjoy that part of Dug. Plus, people love their dogs. We’ve gone to great lengths to include truth in dog behavior, so they see their own dogs in Dug. Everything is new, and he’s excited about all of it. But the smallest things can distract Dug, never mind an actual squirrel.”
Check out the new trailer and synopsis for Dug Days below, and be sure to share your thoughts on this new series of shorts in the usual spot!
Pixar Animation Studios’ “Dug Days” is a new collection of shorts that follows the humorous misadventures of Dug, the lovable dog from Disney and Pixar’s “Up.” Each short features everyday events that occur in and around Dug’s backyard, all through the exciting (and delightfully distorted) eyes of our favorite talking dog.
Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee and Emmy® Award winner Bob Peterson and produced by Kim Collins, the shorts premiere exclusively on Disney+ in Fall 2021.
All five Dug Days shorts debut on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 1st.
