Pixar announced today the title of its 27th feature film and shared the first concept art and a brief synopsis. Elemental will arrive in theaters next summer and take us to a city where the four elements (fire, water, land, and air) live together in an elemental melting pot.

Directed by Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur), Elemental is inspired by his childhood growing up in New York City. In a
“My parents emigrated from Korea in the early 1970s and built a bustling grocery store in the Bronx,” the director revealed. “We were among many families who ventured to a new land with hopes and dreams—all of us mixing into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages and beautiful little neighborhoods. That’s what led me to Elemental.”
Pixar shared the first concept art for Elemental, showcasing our two main characters walking through what looks like a bustling downtown area of this fantastical world.
Elemental is produced by Denise Ream (The Good Dinosaur, Cars 2). It will arrive in theaters on June 16, 2023.
But up first is Lightyear, an origins story about the astronaut who inspired the toy known as Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise. Lightyear flies into theaters on June 17, 2022, and marks Pixar's return to the big screen after both Turning Red and Soul were relegated to Disney+ due to the pandemic.
