Nickelodeon has been full-speed in new adaptations, both for Paramount+ and for the big screen. So while animated films for Paw Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are on the way to theaters, an animated adaptation of Blue's Clues is headed to the Paramount streamer.
That's not all as a live-action The Fairly OddParents project is also on the way. While this announcement was made earlier this year, we now have a bevy of other information, including cast, release, synopsis, and more.
Fans of the original animation will be thrilled to know that their original voice actors will voice both Wanda and Cosmo. In addition to Susanne Blasklee and Daran Norris, the physical cast of The Fairly OddParents will also be filled out with Audrey Grace Marshall, Tyler Wladis, Laura Bell Bundy, Ryan-James Hatanaka, and Imogen Cohen.
Zack Olin, the Co-Head of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action, had the following to say about adapting the franchise to the new medium. "During its run, The Fairly OddParents granted an endless amount of imagination to viewers, where no wish was too big or too small. We are so excited to build upon the 'Fairly Odd' universe with this totally unique experience that the new show’s incredibly talented creative team has cooked up for a new generation of kids on Paramount+."
Check out the synopsis for the adaptation below, and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual spot. Fans of the original Fairly OddParents cartoon will surely dig our chat with voice actor Rob Paulsen who voices several characters in the show, which we have included below.
"In The Fairly OddParents, Ty Turner uproots his life to reunite with his high school sweetheart, Rachel Ragland, in the town of Dimmsdale, thrusting his cautious 13-year-old daughter, Viv, into a new world where she does not fit in. Once there, her cousin, Timmy, entrusts his fairy godparents, Wanda and Cosmo, to help her adjust by taking her under their wings. Witnessing the fairy transfer take place, Viv’s new stepbrother, Roy, also inherits them, and the two siblings must come together to overcome the obstacles in their path, all with the help from their new wand-wielding and wish-granting fairy godparents."
Voice acting legend Rob Paulsen joins us to chat about some of his most popular characters and voices that he has portrayed over the years. We talk about Yakko and Pinky from Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, as well as his return to the series post-throat cancer for the 2020 reboot with Steven Spielberg.
We also hear from some of his other voices like Raphael and Donatello from the 90's and 2000's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons, Snowball from Rick and Morty, Spike from Land Before Time, PJ from A Goofy Movie, Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron, Reuben from Lilo and Stitch, and too many others to name!
The live-action Fairly OddParents is scheduled for release on Paramount+ later this year.
