Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has always been a popular enough IP to span multiple mediums for decades successfully. Numerous comic books, animated shows, video games, and live-action films have been adapted from the story of the heroes in a half shell.
In 2021, there seems to be a resurgence in the production of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles media. Not only is Seth Rogen creating a new animated adventure for the brothers, but it has now been revealed by Deadline that a new live-action feature is also in the works.
The writers announced to be penning the new film are two successful comedian brothers, Colin and Casey Jost. While both are rather obscure, Colin is more widely known as he is married to Scarlett Johannsen and recently won an Emmy for his work on Saturday Night Live.
Here's where things get weird. The other Jost brother, Casey, might not be a household name, but he is instrumental in the behind-the-scenes work of one comedy series in particular - Impractical Jokers. Of course, this says a lot for the tone of what's to come for the four lifelong brothers competing to embarrass each other.
Now, obviously, the turtles themselves won't be portrayed by the Jokers themselves. Still, it is hard not to imagine whether or not pieces of Murr, Sal, Joe, and Q's personalities will be felt in the humor of the half-shell heroes. So whatever your thoughts may be on the matter, be sure to share them in the usual spot.
