The Witcher is a franchise that has branched out to multiple mediums. What began decades ago as a single novel expanded into a full book series, and that was only the beginning of the chronicles of Geralt.

Despite the popularity of the books, many of today's generation are more familiar with The Witcher IP as a trilogy of video games. The video games became popular enough to spurn a live-action television series on Netflix, and former Superman actor Henry Cavill's casting as Geralt certainly didn't hurt the trajectory of the popularity from there.

Believe it or not, the Cavill-led series isn't the first live-action adaptation of The Witcher, with two films released in the early 2000s called The Hexer. However, this new Netflix series is so popular that it not only received an order for Season 2, which lands on December 17th.

Multiple other projects are also headed to the platform to assist in fleshing out the universe. In addition to the mainline series, there is also a six-part live-action limited series that explores the past called The Witcher: Blood Origin. However, when it comes to the world of animation, a third project has been developed to take place between the two live-action shows entitled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

As you can see above, Netflix has now shared the first teaser trailer and the poster for the series, but what do you guys think? Hear our interview with The Witcher writer Anne Toole below, and be sure to share your thoughts in the comments!

Video game fans will be encapsulated with what video game writer Anne Toole has to say about her contributions to The Witcher and Horizon Zero Dawn. We also learn about her new comic series from Titan Comics and Guerilla Games, which adapts the video game story, Horizon Zero Dawn Vol. 1: The Sunhawk. Darth Lexii and Comic Brooks break this one down, as it was conducted via e-mail.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf premieres on Netflix on August 23rd.
