In its second weekend of release, Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem continues its solid performance at the box office.
The Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) directed animated feature earned $15.75 million domestically, and another $10.74 million internationally for a $26.49 million second weekend.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem now stands at $94.69 million worldwide with Paramount having spent an estimated $70 million on the film's production budget.
On the family film front, Mutant Mayhem will not face much competition over the next few weeks aside from Pixar's Elemental, which continues to perform well despite a rough start, and Warner Bros.' Blue Beetle (August 18).
The first real test won't come until PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie drops on September 29. Mutant Mayhem should have a strong box office run throughout what's left of Summer until kids go back to school after the Labor Day holiday.
The film stars Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo), Sharon Brown Jr. (Mikey), Micah Abbey (Donnie), Brady Noon (Raph), Jackie Chan (Splinter), Ayo Edebiri (April), Ice Cube (Superfly), Seth Rogen (Bebop), John Cena (Rocksteady), Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko), Rose Byrne (Leatherhead), Post Malone (Ray Fillet), Hannibal Buress (Genghis Frog), Natasia Demetriou (Wing Nut), Maya Rudolph (Cynthia Utrom), and Giancarlo Esposito (Baxter Stockman)!
After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.
