During a recent interview (via Comicbook.com), one of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse's three directors was asked who his favourite character from the critically-acclaimed animated movie was - and his answer may surprise you.
Bob Persichetti stated that his favourite character is that of, Miles' uncle, Aaron Davis. "I’m going to veer away from the obvious answers of Miles, Peter, or Gwen and choose Miles’ Uncle, Aaron Davis, the younger brother of Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis."
Persichetti then explained just why Aaron Davis is his favourite - that being the voice behind him as well as his role in Miles' journey - "Uncle Aaron is voiced by Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and he has a hugely important role in Miles ascension as Spider-Man."
Ali is of course known for his role in the 2017 Academy Award-winning film Moonlight - for which he also won an Oscar. He's also recognisable thanks to a seperate Marvel role; in Netflix's Luke Cage series, Ali played the antagonistic Cottonmouth. Ali certainly proves his voice-acting chops in Into The Spider-Verse, and we can't help but concur with Persichetti's reasoning.
Synopsis: In the "classic Spider-Man mold", Miles Morales must juggle his high school life with his status as a superhero, as he is introduced to the "Spider-Verse" where there can be more than just one Spider-Man.
What do you think of the Perischetti's favourite character? What are your thoughts on Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse?
