SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Producer Talks Live-Action Miles Morales Plans; Teases Tom Holland Cameo

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse finally gave Miles Morales the chance to shine on the big screen, but that was obviously in animation, not live-action. The movie received widespread critical acclaim, was a box office hit, and even won an Oscar, proving that comic book fans are ready and willing to embrace this alternate reality web-slinger.

While Marvel Studios' Spider-Man movies have teased possible plans for Miles (in the vaguest of ways), we don't appear to be any closer to that actually happening.

For actor Shameik Moore, he's definitely up for the challenge of playing the character in live-action.

"I was at the premiere of No Way Home and everyone looked at me on that line!" he tells Empire Online. "I got a lot of tweets. I feel like everyone knows I would be a great [live-action] Miles Morales. As I left the theatre after that premiere, Jamie Foxx looked at me like...he knew [Laughs]. I think Tom Holland knows, too."

Moore is 27 and Miles has typically portrayed as a teenager, so the clock is ticking on the actor actually being able to make this a reality, something he would go on to acknowledge.

"It just depends on how old they want Miles to be by the time they’re ready to do a live-action movie," the actor admits. "That’s the conundrum with whether or not I end up playing him."

Franchise producer Amy Pascal was similarly coy with her comments, adding: "[Fans will] have to wait a couple of years to see what we do" in regards to Miles' live-action future.

We have a feeling something might be in the world, but when it comes to whether those rumours about Tom Holland showing up as Peter Parker in the animated franchise have any basis, she teased, "I am not going to comment on anything around that! But I can tell you that Tom Holland does love these [Spider-Verse] movies..."

That sounds rather promising, don't you think?

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swings into theaters on June 2, 2023.
