SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Digital Release Finally Reveals Which Theatrical Version Is "Canon"

Shortly after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released in theaters, many moviegoers started complaining about the sequel's sound mix. Some lines of dialogue were impossible to hear, with the soundtrack largely overpowering what the characters on screen were saying.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that a couple of scenes had been changed when an improved version was sent out to theaters, with at least a few sequences differing slightly.

Now, though, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's Digital release has confirmed which version of the critically acclaimed sequel is "officially" canon.

In the Digital movie, Spider-Man 2099 is forced to take a selfie with his virtual assistant Lyla with a bunny filter. Previously, we saw her simply point at her boss and exchange some snappy dialogue.

As for Andy Samberg's Scarlet Spider, he makes a quip about his "well-defined musculature," confining the scene in which he talks about putting Miles in a sleeper hold to the history books. Another change shows Spider-Gwen reacting differently to Miles seemingly being crushed in Spider-Man India's Mumbattan.

This is interesting, but we're sure most of you will be combing through Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's Digital release for Easter Eggs. This fan, for example, has already spotted one which passed us by on the big screen...

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now available on Digital platforms.
