We've finally got an incling on plot details about the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog film and it's safe to say that they're taking some creative liberties in terms of the iconic speedster's character.
As reported by Deadline, Paramount Pictures CEO, Jim Gianopulos, briefly discussed the upcoming animated/live-action film during a Producers Guild of America Q&A - describing Sonic as a "juvenile delinquent" - check it out below:
He’s a juvenile delinquent on the adventures in a pretty straight rural environment with a local policeman. It was instantly engaging and it was good enough where you could see where it’s going.
This title may irk some fans of the franchise as the games and cartoons portrayed Sonic as anything but juvenile - he tends to be as goody-two-shoes as they come. Though Gianopulos feels that it will be “instantly engaging," this change may not sit well with some fans.
At least now we have some kind of idea as to how Sonic and James Marsden's cop character will cross paths. Hopefully we'll get some more information or even a brief teaser at San Diego Comic Con next month.
What do you think about Gianopulos' statement? What do you think about Sonic being a "juvenile delinquent" in his big-screen debut - which is set to hit theatres late next year?
