Following the development of Paramount Pictures'
Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie has been quite the joyride for fans of Sega's iconic Blue Blur; except without the joy, since the first trailer for the movie sucked all the joy out of it for fans.
Earlier today, Paramount Pictures completely redeemed themselves by releasing the second first trailer for the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and fans are already loving it. The reason? Sonic looks exactly the same way he does in the video games he stems for.
Over the course of the day, and following the release of the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer, Tyson Hesse — who many fans may know as the Director for the
Sonic Mania Adventures miniseries — revealed that he was the one the studio contacted to redesign the beloved character.
Tyson Hesse's
Sonic Adventure Miniseries was very well-received when it released last year, and he proved to be the perfect choice to redesign Sonic after the fiasco that was the first trailer.
In order to celebrate the occasion, Hesse took to Twitter to thank
Sonic the Hedgehog movie Director Jeff Fowler, as well as the whole team of designers and animators that helped him bring Sonic to life — while also sharing an illustration that gives us another look at the video games-accurate Sonic.
Take a look:
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is spin-dashing into theatres on the 14th of February in 2020.
