Disney’s Dumbo graced the homes of many growing up and, if the psychedelic pink elephants on parade scene didn’t traumatize you as a kid, then the separation scene between Dumbo and his mother surely did. The latest trailer for Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo remake gives viewers a first glimpse at that same heartbreaking scene that is sure to bring back all the feels.

The new scene remains true to the original, showing Momma Elephant reaching out with her trunk through the bars to comfort Dumbo before she’s sold off by the entrepreneur, V.A. Vandemere. Not only does the trailer bring back this classic scene, but it also gives more of a glimpse into the story, and Colin Farrell’s character, Holt Farrier.

Farrier, a war veteran and retired circus star, takes on the role as Dumbo's caretaker along with his two children, Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe Farrier (Finley Hobbins). Disney's official synopsis for the live-action Dumbo is as follows:

"Holt was once a circus star but he went off to war and when he returned, it had terribly altered him. Circus owner Max Medici hires him to take care of Dumbo, a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the struggling circus troupe. But when Holt's children discover that Dumbo can fly, entrepeneur V.A. Vandevere, and aerial artist Colette Marchant swoop in to make the little elephant a star."

Apart from Farrell, the cast of Dumbo also includes Michael Keaton as the charming and pitiless V.A. Vandemere, Danny DeVito as the circus owner Max Medici, Eva Green as the trapeze artist Colette Marchant, and Alan Arkin as the Wall Street tycoon J. Griffin Remington.
