A new trailer for
Detective Pikachu could be coming soon. While
Pokemon fans have been treated to a handful of TV spots over the past few weeks, we've really only received one full trailer for the live-action movie. That could change soon
The Consumer Protect BC, a provincial regulator responsible for licensing and rating movies in British Columbia (a Canadian equivalent of the Motion Picture Association of America in the U.S.), has approved a new trailer for
Pokemon Detective Pikachu.
Dubbed "Trailer #2A," it was approved on February 22. Although no exact date for when it will debut was included, it's likely the trailer could be attached to Marvel's upcoming blockbuster
Captain Marvel, as that is one of next month's biggest films.
The trailer will run two minutes and 25 seconds, suggesting more plot details and more Pokemon will be revealed. Warner Bros. has done a tremendous job building up the live-action movie, but with just three months to go until
Detective Pikachu's theatrical release, it's probably time we get a more substantial trailer.
The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
Detective Pikachu hits theaters Friday, May 10, 2019.
