Last week, the cast of Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge was announced. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge is an upcoming animated movie in the works at Warner Bros. Animation that's based on the iconic video game franchise of the same name — not to be confused with the live-action Mortal Kombat movie that's also currently in the works.

Jeremy Adams (Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans) wrote the script, Ethan Spaulding (Batman: Assault on Arkham) directs. Rick Morales (Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders) and Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) produce. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon serves as a creative consultant.

Speaking of Boon, the game director took to social media to tease that the animated movie will be quite brutal — as you can see here. Even more recently, Boon took to Twitter to back up that claim with the announcement that Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge will be rated R.

As you can see below; Boon compared the animated movie to a pair of other R rated movies as well as featured the "Restricted" symbol alongside the movie's logo. Now we know to expect Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge to be just as bloody and brutally violent as the games it's based on.
