In addition to the forthcoming live-action reboot of
Mortal Kombat, Warner Bros. Animation has begun work on an animated film set for release in the first half of 2020.
This won't be the first attempt at an animated take on the world of
Mortal Kombat. In 1996, an animated series known as
Mortal Kombat: Defenders Of The Realm debuted to dismal reviews from fans and critics.
Mortal Kombat: Scorpion's Revenge is directed by Ethan Spaulding (
Batman: Assault On Arkham) from a script by Jeremy Adams (
Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans).
The voice cast includes:
-
Joel McHale as Johnny Cage
-
Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade
-
Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang
-
Patrick Seitz as Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi
-
Steve Blum as Sub-Zero
-
Artt Butler as Shang Tsung
-
Darin De Paul as Quan Chi
-
Robin Atkin Downes as Kano
-
David B. Mitchell as Raiden
-
Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs
-
Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro
-
Grey Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi
-
Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer
The film will be produced by Rick Morales (
Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders) and Jim Krieg (
Batman: Gotham By Gaslight).
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon will serve as a creative consultant on the project.
