Next year, actress Sadie Stanley will help bring to life
Kim Possible in a new Disney Channel Original Movie. The live-action take on the popular animated series will see Stanley portray the red-headed crime-fighting hero/high school student, and at Comic-Con this weekend, we were treated to our first look at her done up like the iconic character.
Towards the end of Disney Channel's panel for
Big Hero 6: The Series, the show's executive producers Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley, and Nick Filippi took a moment to reveal a first look at the upcoming live-action adaptation of
Kim Possible. The only "major" difference I can spot is that she now sports a black top that fully covers her midriff - probably a smart decision on Disney's part considering some had accused the show's character of being a little too oversexualized. Her utility belt is also black instead of brown, but let's not get too picky here.
Stanley
will be joined by Sean Giambrone (
The Goldbergs) who has been cast as Kim's best friend and clumsy sidekick Ron Stoppable. Meanwhile, Isaac Ryan Brown, star of
Raven's Home,
has been cast to play teen tech-genius Wade, whose advanced computer surveillance skills help Kim and Ron stay one step ahead of the bad guys. Todd Stashwick and Taylor Ortega will play the show's villains Drakken and Shego, respectively. Rufus has not yet been cast.
The original
Kim Possible animated series revolved around Kim and her friends fighting crime while coping with everyday issues commonly associated with adolescence. The series ran for 87 episodes from 2002 through 2007. The upcoming live-action movie has been penned by series' creators Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley. We don't yet have a plot synopsis for the Disney Channel Original Movie, but we can assume it will offer the same general premise as its cartoon inspiration.
