Disney Pixar's
The Incredibles 2 is currently tracking for a $140 million-plus opening at the domestic box office, giving the highly anticipated sequel to 2004's animated hit a shot at becoming the top domestic opening of all-time for an animated film. The current record holder is another Pixar movie, 2016's
Finding Dory, which hauled in an estimated $135 for its debut.
It's been 14 years since we last saw the Parr family suit up, with the first
Incredibles movie opening with roughly $70.5 million back in 2004, unadjusted for inflation. 2017's
Coco made $50.8 million in its domestic opening, but went on to gross a whopping $805 million worldwide, according to
Box Office Mojo.
Incredibles 2 flips the Parr family unit upside down as Helen, aka Elastigirl, is tasked with becoming the face of the campaign for the return of "supers." While Helen is out fighting crime and saving the world, Bob Part (Mr. Incredible) has his own adventure at home with the kids: the rambunctious Dash, the rebellious teenager Violet, and the wild baby Jack-Jack, who recently discovered powers of his own. On top of all the chaos, a new villain, Screenslaver, shows up to cause havoc of his own.
The Incredibles 2 hits theaters June 15, 2018.
