Sony is working on a live-action retelling of the iconic tale of
Cinderella. Singer-songwriter Camilla Cabello is set to star as the titular princess and it was recently confirmed that Billy Porter will play the fairy godmother character —

It's worth noting that this project is seemingly disparate from the rumoured Godmothered movie that's supposedly being developed for Disney+ —
which you can find out about here. It's also unrelated to Disney's live-action remake of
Cinderella from 2015 which starred Lily James.

Deadline reveals that Idina Menzel is in talks to play Cinderella's cruel stepmother — whose name is apparently Evelyn. Menzel is a talented singer known for playing the role of Maureen in the stage production and movie adaptation of
Rent. However, she's best known for voicing Queen Elsa in Disney's
Frozen —
as well as its upcoming sequel.
