FROZEN 2 Sets New Record For First-Day Advanced Ticket Sales For An Animated Movie

Tickets for Frozen 2 officially went on sale earlier this week, and Disney looks to have another blockbuster on its hands. Both Fandango and Atom Tickets have announced that the first day presales for the highly anticipated sequel have topped all other animated movies.

With Frozen 2 now topping the charts, Disney currently holds the top three spots for most first-day presale ticket sales when it comes to animated movies. Incredibles 2 broke the record back in June of 2018, only to be outperformed by Toy Story 4 this year. The new top five animated movies when it comes to Fandango presales looks like this:

“Film fans can’t wait to hear the instantly memorable Frozen 2 songs and enjoy the surprising new adventures of Anna, Elsa and Olaf,” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis (via Deadline). “It’s a Thanksgiving season tradition to gather at the multiplex for a Disney film, and based on the sensational ticket sales for Frozen 2 on Fandango, it’s clear that families and friends are making their holiday moviegoing plans now.”

For Atom Tickets, Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, and Incredibles 2 are also their top three first-day animated best-sellers. First day sales for Frozen 2 have also bested remakes of Disney's live-action classics, including The Lion King, Aladdin, and 2017's Beauty and the Beast.

Initial box office estimates for Frozen 2 called for an opening weekend haul upwards of $100 million; however, given the film's presale pace, some analysts believe it could reach as high as $125 million.

It's worth mentioning that all of the film's whose presale records have been broken by Frozen 2 went on to earn over $1 billion at the global box office. 2013's Frozen brought in $1.27 billion worldwide, and it's looking likely that the sequel will surpass that.
