Cruella de Vil, the villain of the  1961 animated Disney classic 101 Dalmatians will be the focus of an upcoming live-action remake and will be played by La La Land actress Emma Stone.  This would actually mark the second live-action 101 Dalmations film, following the 1996 adaptation which featured Glen Close as the puppy opsessed fashionista.

After reports previously confirmed a December 23, 2020 release date, the latest bit of news is that Academy Award winner Emma Thompson is close to finalizing a deal to co-star.  No word yet on which role she'll be playing. Interstingly enough, Thompson previously played Ms. Potts in the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast remake.

Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) is attached to direct from a script penned by Tony McNamara.
