Walt Disney Studios have released a new, official trailer for their upcoming sequel to 2014's
Maleficent. Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning are back as the titular Mistress of Evil and Princess Aurora respectively. However, there's also a new batch of characters and actors who are joining the franchise.
Most notably, Michelle Pfieffer and Chiwetel Ejiofor are new additions to the cast. The former plays Queen Ingris and, in this new trailer, manages to ruffle Maleficent's feathers and spark an all-out war. The latter is revealed at the end of the trailer and it seems will be playing a member of the Mistress of Evil's fairy family.
This new trailer reveals a lot about the film's story, which is something that the first trailer (that released back in May) failed to do. It also features a ton of action-packed and awesome moments. Along with the new trailer, Disney also released a brand new synopsis for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil - which you can check out below:
The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to arrive in theatres on October 18th, 2019.
