Alcon Entertainment announced that they were working on a Garfield animated movie back in 2016, and only now are we finding out any information on it - that being who's attached as director. Mark Dindal, known for directing The Emperor's New Groove and Chicken Little, was recently announced as Garfield's director.
Garfield is a comic-strip created by Jim Davis. Published since 1978, it chronicles the life of the title character, Garfield, the cat; Jon Arbuckle, the human; and Odie, the dog.
Unlike previous attempts at bringing Garfield to the big-screen, this endeavour will be totally animated. Dindal had this to say to Deadline on being attached to the film: “Comic strip characters have always had a special appeal to me. To have this opportunity to make a film with a classic character like Garfield is a privilege and a thrill.”
What do you think of this announcement? Are you looking forward to Alcon's animated Garfield movie?
Garfield doesn't currently have a set release date.
